Hello and welcome to WideOpenPhotography.com. I'm Michael Stevens and I lead a team that would love to be your photographers. We are based out of the metropolitan Phoenix area but cover events all over the state. While our emphasis is on sports photography other assignments are always welcome. Portraits and weddings are always a fun challenge and we can also handle your commercial photography needs from the photography stage all the way through design and printing.
I have been shooting for nearly twenty years now and those shooting with me are just as experienced. Originally shooting as a hobby I would capture friends, family, and my faithful yet co-dependent Great Danes Christy and Katie. I was the guy that always had a camera on him. Still am.
A majority of Wide Open's income is from event photography: marathons and triathalons. We've covered everything from smaller 5k races to Ironman events all over the country and as far as Kona, Hawaii. You'd think that waking up at 4 a.m. to start working a full-iron length event and not getting back to bed until 1 a.m. or later would really suck. But, those events are a lot of fun and have so many stories within them that you can't help but be inspired.
Most of the event photography income has come from working as a contract photographer for various employers. Just recently we've been connected with an outfit that handles all the fullfillment of photos from prints to coffee mugs and mouse pads. This allows us to cover more events and give the race director and the athletes involved more personal attention. We are looking forward to expanding our capabilities through through this new service.
